This  BA in Tourism and Guest Services Management adopts a proactive approach to customer care, quality and service excellence in a hospitality and/or tourism setting. In particular, you will learn about customer service, operations, enterprise, and the management of front office guest services across the hybrid accommodation sector.

Key issues within guest services, such as front office management will be addressed. This includes specialised activity such as advance reservations, information and communication services, safety and security, record keeping, night audits, sales, programming events, group bookings, revenue management, networking, developing tourism partnerships and tourism innovation will all be addressed.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate

Grade D3 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate examination. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish).

FETAC

Any FETAC level 5 qualification is acceptable. There are no specific module requirements.

Year 1 – Semester 2

Introduction to Business and Management, Cultural Studies, Guest Services Accounting, Applied Languages.

Year 2 – Semester 1

Information Technology, Tourism Marketing, Guest Services Accounting, Applied Languages.

Year 2 – Semester 2

Information Technology, Tourism Field Studies, Placement.

Year 3 – Semester 1

Guest Services Management, Tourism Enterprise Management, HRM and Training.

Year 3 – Semester 2

Management Accounting and Revenue Management, Tourism Innovation Management, Marketing Management, Applied Languages or Tourism Case Studies.

Progression

As a graduate of this Level 7 Bachelor’s degree, you will be eligible to progress to a proposed new honours degree in this area.

As a graduate, you will be qualified to work in key customer contact/guest service positions as managers/assistant managers/supervisors and/or operators in a range of tourism and hospitality enterprises or in the wider services sector, at home and abroad.
