Welcome to the Student Golf Society web page. Our golf society activities are organised under two headings, Social Fun Outings and Competitions Golf

Social Fun Outings

The social calendar is geared towards getting as many students as possible to attend our outings. Check out the calendar of events. Look out on the notice board for information about dates and venues. Remember attending an outing usually requires a little bit of planning and organising; golf equipment has to be brought from home, etc. Most of the golf courses we use are within twenty minutes of the college. There are some fantastic courses to play and they all love to see the students come along; Mount Temple, Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club, Ballinasloe, Athlone, Esker Hills. We have played them all.

The cost to the student is usually €10. This includes €2 towards a prize fund.

Transport is provided from the College to all our social outings. So no excuses!!

Competitions

Competitions are organized on an inter-college and inter-university basis. AIT are looking to compete successfully on this stage. We are looking to put together a pool of 10 to 12 dedicated competitive golfers. Teams from 4 persons to 8 persons are needed to compete, depending on the competition.

In association with Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club, we are developing a golf excellence programme. Team members have 5 day membership of this outstanding course, from October through to May. Regular practice games are organized and all our home matches are played at Glasson.

AIT competes in ICGA Intervarsity League & ISSA Inter-college Championship. AIT is currently the only Institute competing in the university league. A team of 5 players compete on a league basis. This is a challenging competition for the ‘want-a-be’ scratch golfer.
