Research Funding

To date, AIT has secured extensive funding through Council of Directors Strand1/Strand3, Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI), EPA and various national funding bodies.

Enterprise Ireland’s Innovation Partnerships Programme provides financial support to enable companies to undertake collaborative research projects with third level institutes. Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund supports the bringing to market of technology from a research environment.

Enterprise Ireland’s Innovation Vouchers Scheme and Invest NI’s Innovation Voucher Scheme support small businesses in the Republic and in the North respectively in accessing the research resources of third level institutes both north and south.

The BMW Regional Assembly’s Research Vouchers Scheme supports small businesses in the BMW region in accessing the research resources of third level institutes in the Republic of Ireland.

InterTrade Ireland’s INNOVA programme supports R&D cooperation between firms, North and South, with the support of public research organisations. FUSION develops and supports three-way partnerships between companies, third level institutes and graduates across the Island.

The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET), funded under the National Development Plan, operates the Embark Initiative funding people and ideas, providing direct financial support for researchers and research students.

The Marie Curie Programme is a key European instrument within the EU Framework 7 programme that funds excellent researchers at third level institutes and in companies.
