Ireland’s current challenging economic situation is also a time of great opportunity. Recent reviews of the tourism sector have identified key areas for concentrated effort – competitiveness, value for money, access, transport and the business environment. Smart economic growth recognises the interdependence between human, physical, natural and social resources. As tourism positions itself in the “smart economy”, smart thinking is critical.
THRIC 2011 through its round table discussion seeks to start a debate on smart tourism which includes all partners in tourism: researchers and educators, industry providers and business services to them, state bodies and the wider community.
The round table will be composed as follows:

Chair: Mr. Tadhg Carey Editor, Westmeath Independent.
|
